After Successful Weekend, @YTownPhantoms Bring Hockey Home

Last weekend, the Youngstown Phantoms did exactly as they expected themselves to do. After traveling to Ann Arbor and defeating Team USA U-17 by a score of 5-2, the team made the trip to Bloomington, Illinois to knock of the Thunder 3-1.

Goaltenders Chris Birdsall and Colin DeAugustine had outstanding performances in net in their respective victories, as the offense came alive for the Phantoms. Notching goals for Youngstown were Tommy Parran, Bryan Lemos, Kevin Conley, Josh Melnick, Ryan Lomberg, Chase Pearson, Max Letunov, and Josh Nenadal.

Each tally was the players' first of the season, save Letunov, whose goal was his second of 2014-15. Conley's goal was his first in the USHL.

That brings us to this weekend.

Friday night, the team travels to Ann Arbor once more to take on Team USA U18. U18 is 7-2-0 on the season thusfar. They are producing goals in bunches, averaging over 5 goals per game.

Leading the way for that team is Jeremy Bracco who has tallied 4 goals and 11 assists in the team's 9 games. Auston Matthews and Matthew Tkachuk follow closely behind with 13 points each.

In net, the 6'1" 192lb goaltender Luke Opilka has been strong, stopping 91.9% of the shots he has faced and he carries a 2.19 GAA. His 5-1-0 record is an excellent start to his USHL career.

The real fun for Phantoms fans starts Saturday afternoon, however.
